Thursday is Flower Day

There is great anticipation for me on the Thursday. For me this is the start of wedding prep day! My flowers are all here and getting to their peak so they can be perfect for weddings. I start planning out when I am going to have things completed and what needs to be done first. This is what the Studio is filled with by the end of Thursday. There is hardly room to move!

What's in a Wedding

Just for some fun I thought that I would post for you pics of my wedding journal.
After each wedding I put together an entry about what flowers that I used how many of them I needed and how things went. It's important to me that we improve on all our weddings, that we follow things that went well and change the things that didn't, so I write it all down. All my weddings end up in here, it's a great way of keeping track.

There are alot of things that go into your wedding from your suppliers. I will literally spend hours ordering flowers and working that out with my growers and agents. Sourcing ribbons, feathers and extras. Plus there is the research into what is popular and what is not, different styles and fashions! Flowers are like clothes, flowers and styles go in and out of fashion!

Palates of Port- Port Douglas Carnivale

Each week I get to provide the Audi Centre Cairns with flowers for their showroom.
About two days before Palates of Port ( a fantastic part of Port Douglas Carnivale) Allan (the boss) called me and asked me what flowers I could do for this event. Short notice indeed!!! however on his and my suggestion we came up with something a little fun.
We made the Audi symbol (those famous four linked rings) in flowers. It was alot of fun. My hubbie got involved as well and the finish product we really enjoyed.
We dressed the tables in Candles and Satin, all you have been there will know that Flames of the Forest is one of the regions most unique and gorgeous places to celebrate, anything.

Friday fun!

Friday was a big wedding day for me! after pulling an all-nighter on Thursday (thank goodness for the Tour De France keeping me going) I was super pleased with the results of Friday's flowers.

One of my lovely Brides Tanya was getting married in Port Douglas with her reception at Flames of the Forest. The fantastic Port Douglas photography (Shaun Guest) http://www.portdouglasphotography.net/ took the pictures. He sent me through this teaser on Saturday! Can't wait to see the rest. Tanya had a gorgeous trail bouquet of Phalenopsis Orchids one of my favourite flowers. Who doesn't love some Orchid art!!!

Ellie & Dean

I love these two, such a delight to work with. There were so many moments with these two that made this wedding memorable for me as a supplier, not to mention the follow up text message the next day from Ellie saying she had the time of her life!

Thanks to the amazing Cath and Ben from Sash Studios for capturing it so well and giving me some pics. There is nothing better than working with fellow great suppliers. I love it when I get to see it in action. Pictures become really important to a florist because all our work is done pre-wedding we don't often get to experience the finished product! love these shots, can't say it enough. Check out Dean's face when Ellie came into the church. Priceless!
